General Call For Submissions
Due to the Covid-19 crisis, a couple of our issues are behind the schedule now. However, we are working on a double issue (8.1 February and 8.2 August 2020) at the moment and hope to bring it out by October 2020.
We hope to bring out the next regular issue (February 2021) on time, and submissions for the same are open till November 30, 2020.
We are now open to submissions in all categories.
What we accept: ~Poetry ~ Short Fiction ~ Book/Film/Art Review ~ Interview ~ Photography ~ Visual Art ~
Our email: [email protected]
What we need with all submissions: 1. a brief bio note in third person (maximum 100 words)
2. a photo of the contributor
Make sure that you send your work, bio note and photo as three separate attachments.
File format: doc., docx., pdf and jpg. The text of your work should be in any legible font, preferably Times New Roman or Calibri, 12 point, single spaced.
We expect your work to be original and unpublished, though simultaneous submissions are welcome. It is your responsibility to inform us in time when the work submitted here is accepted somewhere else.
If we have special features with guest editors, you may have to send your work directly to their email address. We will mention that in this space when necessary.
Submission periods:
1. March 1st to May 31st for the August issue (wait till July 15th for the final editorial decisions)
2. September 1st to November 30th for the February issue (wait till January 15th for the final editorial decisions)
Our response period might be between two weeks to three months from the date we receive your work. We are currently unable to send letters of rejection due to the large number of submissions we receive. Please do wait till the dates of final editorial decisions if you need to send us a query regarding your submission.
Submission guidelines:
POETRY
You can submit up to 6 poems. There is no minimum or maximum word limit, but we would prefer poems that run between 10 and 40 lines. Form poetry and free verse are welcome. We may choose between 1 and 4 poems, depending on the quality, relevance, and the space we have.
SHORT FICTION
You can send 1 story, ideally between 1000 and 6000 words. Novel excerpts are also welcome, if they are stand-alone pieces. We are not totally against genre fiction, though we may show some preference to literary fiction. Flash fiction is accepted only in some issues - we will notify it if we plan to have them in an issue.
BOOK/FILM/ART/REVIEW
Please do get in touch with your ideas before you start working on a review. We need reviews on work that is of current relevance. Word limit: between 800 and 2000 words.
INTERVIEW
Please do get in touch with us first, with information regarding the transcript of the interview you plan to send us, and proceed only if we show some interest in it. Word limit: between 800 and 3000 words.
PHOTOGRAPHY
We look for work from both established and amateur photographers. You can suggest a photo feature if you have a bunch of themed photographs. Otherwise, we select 2 to 4 photos from a selection of up to 10 photos you send us.
VISUAL ART
We look for unique works of visual art. You can send up to 10 samples, and we will select 2 to 4 of them. File size should be at least 4"X6". They could be vertical or horizontal @ 300 dpi, preferably as jpg or pdf files. You can have a look at our issues from the beginning to get an idea of the kind of work we feature.
